Visit Seychelles based on weather
If you decide when is the best time to visit Seychelles according to the weather, then you should not visit during the rainy season. You want a lot of sunshine, sunbathe on the stunning beaches, enjoy watersports, and even walk the mountains.
The best time to plan your holiday is between May and October. Even though the rains don’t last the whole day and the sun will always come out during the rainy season, it is better to go during the dry season.
The temperatures in Seychelles range from 28-31 degrees Celsius/82.4-87.8 degrees Fahrenheit to 24-25 degrees Celsius/75.2-77 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year. The hottest months are from November to March when it is officially summer in Seychelles.
South-east trade wind blows from May to September and North-west wind from December to February. In the period between there is almost no wind, therefore people prefer March, April, and October, November as the best months to travel.
However, due to its perfect location, the Seychelles Islands are not affected by bad storms. The only thing that you may count on are seaweeds which can be seen on the beaches from June to September. Mostly on Praslin Island.
I visited Seychelles in August, stayed on Mahe Island, and visited Praslin and La Digue for one day, but didn’t have any problems with seaweeds.
Visit Seychelles based on crowds and prices
To avoid crowds, do not visit Seychelles during the dry season, specifically in July and August as it is the busiest time of the year due to the school summer holiday.
However, when we visited in August, I didn’t feel the islands were very crowded.
Another very busy month is December, due to Christmas and New Year’s Eve, even if it is the rainy season. Of course, the least busy time is during the rainy season.
That leads me to the prices, which are the lowest during the low season, from November to February, except December. The highest prices are during the dry season, especially in July, August, and December.
Visit Seychelles for diving
If your main reason for visiting Seychelles is Diving, the best months are April, May, October, November, and December.
However, you can dive and snorkel in Seychelles throughout the year. But visibility is the best during these few months.
Visit Seychelles for festivals
If you love to participate in any of the amazing Seychelle festivals, you can visit during the month when the festival is happening.
- January – Seychelles Sailing Cup. Catamarans, yachts, and traditional pirogues gather for the Seychelles Sailing Cup regattas on Praslin. A deep sea fishing competition is part of the festival.
- February – The Seychelles eco-friendly marathon is happening on Mahe Island.
- March – The International Deep Sea Fishing Festival is happening on Mahe
- April – Carnaval International de Victoria. This vibrant celebration of global cultures has been held annually since 2011. The Carnaval International de Victoria is a lively and joyful weekend event that brings together people from around the world in the heart of the island’s capital.
It’s the biggest party in the Seychelles, featuring live performances, outdoor discos, and a lively parade through the town. Just like the diverse Seychellois people, the music and costumes are a colorful display for everyone to enjoy. - May – Seychelles Art Festival. The festival lets local artists show their work and teach classes. Local chefs serve delicious Creole dishes, and music, dance, and storytelling entertain the guests.
Another festival held in May is FedAfrik, also called African Day. - June – National Holiday. Celebrated in Victoria Capital City with shows and sporting events.
Another festival in June is the Festival of Classical Music celebrated on Mahe. People sitting under the palm trees listening to the music. Most of the concerts can be seen on Beau Vallon Beach. - August – The Sailing Regatta is happening in Beau Vallon.
- September – Praslin Culinary & Art Fiesta. During this festival, you can enjoy traditional Thai music and dance, a marathon, exhibitions of local artists, and cooking events.
The Windsurfing Race is also happening in September. - October – Festival Kreol happens on Mahé across beaches, hotels, conference halls, and theaters. The events feature music, dancing, art exhibits, theater performances, parades, and conferences, all offering a glimpse into Creole culture and lifestyle.
