1. Visit Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is a beautiful small beach with the most amazing sunset. You can easily get there by bus.

There is one hotel standing on the rock, you can snorkel, swim, and sunbathe all day long as the palm trees provide shade if you need it.

We climbed on a huge rock with a sculpture of a dragon and had a breathtaking view of the ocean.

    2. Wander around the capital city, Victoria

    Capital city Victoria is the smallest capital in the world. It is about 10 minutes drive from the Beau Vallon Beach. You can use public bus transportation if you don’t have a car.

    The main sights to see are the clocktower standing in the middle of the city, Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market, also known as Victoria Market, the National Museum of History, the Natural Museum, and the Botanical Garden.

    You will also find churches like the Cathedral of Victoria, St. Paul’s Cathedral, a mosque, and a Hindu temple in the city.

    Small shops with clothes, jewelry, and souvenirs are not missing either.

    3. Go to Botanical garden

    Botanical Garden is located in the Victoria capital, just a few minutes walk from the bus stop.

    It is a very nice place to spend your day, where you will walk through a garden, and see many extraordinary flowers, the Coco de Mer palm tree, and the giant Aldabra tortoises.

    You can go inside behind the fence where you will be surrounded by many of the tortoises. You can stroke them and take some lovely pictures.

    4. Hike on some of the Seychelles mountains

    Mahe Island has several trails for different hiking levels. Copolia Trail is a medium-level trail.

    The highest peak in Seychelles is Morne Seychellois Mountain standing at 905 meters. It is recommended for experienced hikers.

    We walked through a lush forest and saw different plants, some of them carnivorous, trees, and spiders, and at the top, we were gifted with the most amazing view.

    Beau Vallon is the most popular beach for tourists and locals alike. You will find many hotels and restaurants located here, as well as diving centers.

    The beach has a gradual entrance to the sea, suitable for children, and great conditions for swimming. Locals sell fruits and coconuts which they cut in front of you, so you can taste the fresh coconut juice.

    6. Admire the marine life

    There are diving schools on Beau Vallon Beach, where an experienced diving instructor will take you through the training in shallow water and explain all the safety features.

    When you are ready, you will go with other people and instructors by boat to the open ocean to admire the marine life.

    You will see colorful corals, different kinds of fish, and if you are lucky like we were, even a turtle.

    7. Relax on Port Launay Beach

    Port Launay Beach is one of the stunning beaches we visited on Mahe Island. You can also get there by bus.

    This beach is part of Port Launay National Park. The entrance to the sea is gradual, there are palm trees to provide you with shade and the water has a beautiful greenish color.

    You can rent kayaks, and canoe, go for sunset cruises, or dive. Luxury Constance Ephelia Hotel is nearby where you can visit the restaurant if you get hungry. Small local shops are also available.

    8. Explore Mahe Island
